Key Responsibilities

The appointed Lead Structured Cabling Engineer will take full ownership of structured cabling projects from conception through to delivery. Daily and project-based responsibilities will include:

Design & Installation Leadership

  • Directing the complete lifecycle of structured cabling projects — encompassing system design, physical installation, testing protocols, and formal commissioning activities
  • Producing comprehensive cabling layout drawings, pathway and containment designs, rack elevation plans, and detailed labelling standards for all project installations
  • Ensuring that every installation is carried out in full compliance with relevant industry standards and applicable local building regulations

Fault Finding & Troubleshooting

  • Taking the lead on diagnosing and resolving complex network cabling faults and infrastructure issues across enterprise-level environments
  • Utilising advanced testing equipment — including Fluke certification testers — to identify, document, and resolve cabling performance issues efficiently

Documentation & Asset Management

  • Creating, managing, and maintaining all project documentation including as-built drawings, certification test results, and comprehensive asset inventory records
  • Ensuring all technical records are accurate, up to date, and delivered to clients and project stakeholders within agreed timeframes

Team & Subcontractor Supervision

  • Supervising and directing teams of cabling technicians and third-party subcontractors across active project sites

  • Acting as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, main contractors, and project managers throughout each deployment
